Terms and Conditions

Effective Date: April 22, 2025

1. Agreement to Terms

By accessing or using The Lighthouse website, you agree to comply with and be bound by these Terms and Conditions. If you do not agree, please discontinue using the site.

2. Educational Purpose

The Lighthouse is a global learning platform designed to support skill growth and self-assessment across subjects aligned with U.S. Common Core Standards. All materials are provided for educational purposes only and should not replace formal academic or professional advice.

3. Accounts and Authentication

Some features—such as saving your progress, resuming quizzes, or accessing My Progress—require signing in using a Google account. The Lighthouse does not access or store any passwords. You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for all activity performed through your account.

4. User-Generated Content (Drawings, Notes, Quiz Answers)

Certain interactive tools, such as drawing practice, quiz progress, notes, or saved results, may allow you to create or store personal learning content. This content is stored temporarily either in your browser’s localStorage or within your logged-in account if you choose to save it.

You agree to use these tools responsibly and not to upload or generate inappropriate or copyrighted materials through them.

5. Content Ownership

All learning materials, including lessons, quizzes, illustrations, platform design, code, and layout, are the property of The Lighthouse unless otherwise noted. Your personal learning content (progress, drawings, notes that you create) remains yours, but you grant The Lighthouse permission to store it solely for the purpose of improving your learning experience.

6. Limitation of Data Storage

Quiz progress and drawing files may be temporarily stored using browser technologies such as localStorage. These storage methods are device-based and may reset if you change browsers, clear cache, or switch devices. The Lighthouse does not guarantee permanent storage or recovery of such data.

The Lighthouse is not responsible for any loss of stored progress resulting from device or browser changes, technical issues, or accidental deletion.

7. Third-Party Services

We use trusted third-party tools such as Google Authentication and Firebase for secure account management and limited data protection. No drawing content or quiz answers are shared with external services unless you choose to sign in and save progress to your account. We are not responsible for the policies or actions of third-party service providers.

8. Updates and Changes

We may update these Terms periodically to reflect improvements, new features, or legal requirements. Continued use of the site after changes are posted indicates your acceptance of the updated Terms.

9. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Portugal. Any disputes will be resolved under Portuguese jurisdiction.

10. Contact
