What is the future tense?
Future tense tells about an action that has not happened yet. It shows what someone will do later.
Examples:
- I will play outside.
- She will read a book.
- They will go to school.
Note
If the action is going to happen later, the sentence is written in the future tense.
How do we form the future tense?
To form the future tense, we often use the word will before a verb.
Steps:
- Start with the subject: I
- Add the word will
- Add the action word: run
Sentence: I will run.
Note
The verb does not change when you use will. It stays the same.
Using future tense in sentences
Future tense sentences tell what someone plans or expects to do.
Examples:
- We will eat lunch soon.
- He will help his friend.
- I will clean my room.

Future tense sentences often answer the question: What will happen?
Words that help show the future
Some words help us know a sentence is talking about the future.
Helpful words:
- tomorrow
- soon
- later
- next week
Example: Tomorrow, we will visit Grandma.

These words give clues that the action has not happened yet.
Be careful with verb tense
It is important to keep the verb tense the same in a sentence.
Examples:
- Correct: She will draw a picture.
- Incorrect: She will drew a picture.

When you use will, always use the base form of the verb.
